What is the daily withdrawal limit per Aadhaar?
As per NPCI guidelines, a customer can do up to ₹10,000 per AEPS transaction and a maximum of 5 successful transactions per Aadhaar per day. The exact limit depends on the customer’s issuer bank policy.
Do I need a fingerprint scanner? Which devices work?
Yes — AEPS requires biometric authentication, so a UIDAI-registered fingerprint scanner is mandatory. The most popular compatible devices are Mantra MFS100, Morpho MSO 1300 E3, Startek FM220, and SecuGen Hamster Pro. Sarthi can help you procure one during onboarding.
What if the customer’s fingerprint is not detected?
Sometimes due to dry skin, dirt or worn fingerprints, biometric capture fails. Try a different finger, clean the sensor, ensure proper finger placement, or use the secondary finger. If repeated attempts fail, the customer may need to update their biometric at the nearest Aadhaar centre.
How and when do I get my money?
For each successful AEPS withdrawal, the customer’s account is debited and the equivalent amount is settled to your Sarthi-linked bank account on a T+1 basis (next working day). Commission is credited to your wallet instantly.
Is the customer’s Aadhaar data stored?
No. As per UIDAI rules, Aadhaar numbers and biometric data are never stored locally on the agent device. All authentication happens through encrypted APIs to UIDAI / NPCI — only transaction status is returned and saved.
Does the customer’s Aadhaar need to be linked to their bank?
Yes. AEPS only works for accounts where the customer has linked their Aadhaar number to their bank. If linking is not done, the customer should visit their bank branch once to complete this seeding — after that AEPS works seamlessly.
Can I do AEPS for any bank in India?
Yes — AEPS supports all NPCI-member banks, which is essentially every public sector and major private bank in India: SBI, PNB, BOB, Canara, Union, HDFC, ICICI, Axis, Kotak, regional rural banks and more.
